Well here are some tips for you: 1. Always backup your data - Be sure you have some kind of backup system, a tape drive, CD's DVD, external Drive or even a USB Flash Drive. 2. Befure the storm hit be sure you power down or shutdown your computer normally using the operating system shutdown process. 3. Unplug any cord that goes into the system from the house or office, phone lines, power cord, surge protectors, UPS bateries, etc 4. If you are living or working in a flooded aread, it will be a good idea to raise the computer high enough or at least 3 feet aay from the floor. If you can because they are servers cover up and sealed with plastic bags. 5. Take any CD or last Full backup of your system with you. You never know if when you come back your office or home will still be there. At least with your last full backup you should be able to restore that most important thing. 6. When you come back from the storm be sure to turn on a light or connect a radio to the power outlet, before you connect or try to power up the computer. You never know if afte the storm that electrical outlet is over charged and it will zap! the computer at the moment you power it up or plug it. So it will be better to blow a cheap radio or a bulb than the whole PC. 7. If you wrapped your computer be sure to remove it completly 8.
