3. Use your common sense. This is the best tool you have, not to stop the spam but to not get tricked by them that eventually will get your computer infected. You are way smarter than a blast email that got sent to millions of users and all you have to do is think, analize and act. Here I will give you some of the common sense I use during my day from the thousands of emails I get trough more than 5 emails accounts I handle.
- Check the email address
- Check the content, does it look legit?
- It may look legit (it came from a friend or a company) but am I expecting something from them?
- If I expecting something from them why the email look so empty, why the contect or the wording is so flat, why it doesnt have anything to do with my last communication?
- Hover over the link before you click on the link even if the link says UNSUBSCRIBE
And my most important advice I can give you is. If you are not sure about the email. DELETE it. If a person or a company is trying to reach you eventually they will either resend it or call you to ask you if you ever receive the email.
Another day I will talk about tools and softwares you can use to reduce the amount of spam you receive on your mail. If you have any question or any comments please you are more than welcome to post on this post.
